Vancouver Technical Schools
Vancouver Technical Schools Project Description:
As the building Seismic bridging guidelines drafted by the B.C. Ministry of Education in 2005 allow original materials to be strengthened rather than replaced. One of the first schools where they’re being applied is Vancouver Technical Secondary School.  These include improvements to the original four-story academic building as well as the auditorium and boiler room. The work includes approximately $1.2 million in asbestos removal and remediation.

Solution:
Fibrwrap Installations Limited installed various uni-directional Fyfe Company Tyfo® composite systems to supplement the seismic demands set forth by consulting engineers Sandwell Engineering.  Furthermore, to meet the Architectural requirements for the exterior of the building, Fibrwrap Installations applied the Tyfo® RR product to match the existing exterior finish to minimize the final costs to the owner.

Summary:
Fibrwrap Installations Ltd. completed the Van Tech project in a cost-effective manner ahead of schedule with the use of superior Fiber Reinforced Polymers currently available in the market.
