Project Description: The Rexene Chemical Plant manufactures and markets thermoplastic and petrochemical products. Due to various chemicals and machinery used in the plant, there is a potential threat of explosive blast situations occurring. The existing concrete masonry walls surrounding this area were not sufficiently designed to handle such a blast load.
Solution: Fibrwrap® Construction was contracted to perform the application to structurally strengthen the CMU walls to be able to withstand and mitigate an explosive blast. The glass-based Tyfo® SEH-51A System was applied over the CMU wall sections to give them the required strengthening.
