Project Description: In order to convert this old office building into a new car dealership, the structure required a seismic upgrade. The building is located along the 110 freeway in downtown Los Angeles.
Solution: The TYFO® SEH-51A System was used to strengthen the rectangular, octagonal and circular columns. The design required a jacket that provided the equivalent to #4 rebar at 4" on center.
The column jackets were able to minimize any loss of floor space and they allowed the architect to keep the existing column geometry.
The TYFO® SCH-41 System was used to strengthen around a new slab opening that was needed for a new spiral staircase. The TYFO® AFP System was used to provide the required two-hour UL fire rating on the slab.
Summary: Fibrwrap Construction completed the project on time and within the tight budget restrictions.
